  • Dracut sostituisce initramfs-tools come generatore initramfs predefinito.
    • GCC 15.2.
    • glibc 2.42.
    • Binutils 2.45.
    • LLVM 20.
    • Ruggine 1,85.
    • Vai 1.24.
    • OpenJDK 25.
    • Python 3.13.7.
    • OpenSSL 3.5.
    • Tabella 25.2.
    • APT 3.1.
    • systemd 257.9.
    • PipeWire 1.4.7.
    • BlueZ 5.83.
    • Gstreamer 1.26.6.
    • Power Profiles Daemon 0.30.

Kubuntu 25.10

Ubuntu Budgie 25.10, ultima tappa verso Wayland

Ubuntu Budgie 25.10

The Lubuntu team has announced the availability of Lubuntu 20.04, a long-term support (LTS) release. This release used the LXQt desktop (most previous releases used LXDE as the default desktop) and uses the Calamares system installer instead of the Ubiquity installer used by most other official Ubuntu editions. "This is the fourth Lubuntu release with LXQt as the main desktop environment. The Lubuntu project, in 18.10 and successive releases, will no longer support the LXDE desktop environment or tools in the Ubuntu archive, and will instead focus on the LXQt desktop environment. You can find the following major applications and toolkits installed by default in this release: LXQt 0.14.1. Qt 5.12.8 LTS. Mozilla Firefox 75, which will receive updates from the Ubuntu Security Team throughout the support cycle of the release. The LibreOffice 6.4.2 suite. VLC 3.0.9.2, for viewing media and listening to music. Featherpad 0.12.1, for notes and code editing. Discover Software Center 5.18.4, for an easy, graphical way to install and update software. Martin Wimpress has announced the release of Ubuntu MATE 18.04, the latest version of the popular Ubuntu variant featuring the MATE desktop environment. This new version comes with the new MATE 1.20.1: "The MATE Desktop has transitioned from the GTK+ 2.24-based MATE 1.12 to the very latest MATE 1.20.1 based on GTK+ 3.22. This migration has been several years in the making, and most of 2016 and 2017 was spent refining the GTK+ 3 implementation. The move to GTK+ 3 has made it possible to introduce many of the new features you'll read about below. Support for libinput has been added and is now the default input handler for mouse and touchpad, which has resulted in much improved responsiveness and support for multi-finger touch gestures. Thanks to our friends at Hypra.fr, accessibility support (particularly for visually impaired users) has seen continued development and improvement. MATE Desktop is proud to provide visually impaired users the most accessible open-source desktop environment. MATE Desktop 1.20 supports HiDPI displays and if you have one then Ubuntu MATE will automatically enable pixel scaling, presenting you with a super crisp desktop and applications." Code-named ‘Artful Aardvark’, Kubuntu 17.10 continues our proud tradition of integrating the latest and greatest open source technologies into a high-quality, easy-to-use Linux distribution. The team has been hard at work through this cycle, introducing new features and fixing bugs. Under the hood, there have been updates to many core packages, including a new 4.13-based kernel, KDE Frameworks 5.38, Plasma 5.10.5 and KDE Applications 17.04.3. Kubuntu has seen some exciting improvements, with newer versions of Qt, updates to major packages like Krita, Kdenlive, Firefox and LibreOffice, and stability improvements to KDE Plasma. Additional information and screen shots can be found in the distribution’s release announcementand release notes. The Xubuntu team has announced the release of Xubuntu 17.10. The new version includes significant improvements to accelerated video playback on Intel video cards. The distribution also includes support for driverless printing and includes the GNOME Font Viewer by default. “The GNOME Font Viewer is now included by default. This application simplifies viewing and installing fonts. Client side decorations (CSD) now consume much less space with the Greybird GTK+ theme. New device, mimetype, and monochrome panel icons have been included with the elementary-xfce icon theme. We usually link directly to the Ubuntu release notes, but there are several significant improvements that affect all flavours and our users: Accelerated video playback with Intel hardware should now work more reliably out of the box. The changes might also bring some performance improvements for Parole and Chromium users. Bluetooth and USB audio devices should now work better by default due to changes in BlueZ and PulseAudio. Driverless printing has been added to Ubuntu. This provides support for most modern printers: IPP Everywhere, Apple AirPrint, Mopria, PCLm, and Wifi Direct as supported. Other printers can still be added from the Printers dialog.” Further information can be found in the project’s release announcement. Download: xubuntu-17.10-desktop-amd64.iso (1,251MB, SHA256, signature, torrent, pkglist).

Martin Wimpress has announced the release of Ubuntu MATE 17.10. The new version features a number of desktop changes, including a global menu bar placed at the top of the screen. The 17.10 release also features an improved Heads-Up Display (HUD) which makes it possible to search through application menus using only the keyboard. “This is something we started during Ubuntu MATE 16.10 and never perfected, but is now ready for prime time. A favourite of Unity 7 users is the Heads-Up Display (HUD) which provides a way to search for and run menu-bar commands without your fingers ever leaving the keyboard. So if you’re trying to find that single filter in GIMP but can’t remember which filter category it fits into or if you can’t recall if preferences sits under File, Edit or Tools on your favourite browser, you can just search for it rather than hunting through the menus. Just like Global Menus the HUD is currently only available via the Contemporary, Cupertino and Mutiny [layouts].” Further information on this release, along with screen shots, can be found in the project’s release announcement. Download: ubuntu-mate-17.10-desktop-amd64.iso (1,706MB, SHA256, signature, torrent, pkglist).
