Tutti i programmi, utility e librerie dedicati al sistema grafico X Window System. presenti nella nuova release targata Ubuntu: Maverick Meerkat.Un window manager è un programma che gestisce l'aspetto e la posizione di una finestra nel X Window System, un sistema grafico usato principalmente sotto Unix.
Chi scopre il mondo Linux rimane favorevolmente colpito dal grande numero di window manager a disposizione dell'ambiente grafico X-Windows. E così si cerca di provarli tutti, finendo per avere sull'hard disk decine di mega occupati.
Vediamo quello che si adatta meglio alle nostre esigenze.

Qualche giorno fa ho scoperto un nuovo tema, denominato Oxygen Molecule per le applicazione GTK+ che le fa assomigliare in modo incredibile alle applicazioni native KDE con tema Oxygen.
Ottimo lavoro, era proprio ora. In effetti la differenza di stile fra i due tipi di applicazioni mi dava un po’ fastidio, mentre ora The Gimp e Firefox sono perfettamente integrate nel mio desktop KDE. Occorrente Oxygen-Molecule 3.2 for KDE 4.4
Preparativi.
Assicuriamoci che gtk-qt-engine o gtk-kde4 non siano installati, onde evitare conflitti con il tema.
Installiamo il motore di tema pixbuf che dovrebbe essere presente nei repository ufficiali di Kubuntu.
Installiamolo con: sudo apt-get install gtk2-engines-pixbuf
